Quirp Story's Full Release
By: Robert F. Ludwick | Other | Game Data | 2:25pm, December 31, 2003
EternitySoft Online has announced that its first game, Quirp Story, will enter its final release stage on January first. The game -- an innovative browser-based RPG centered around bird-like Quirps -- has undergone many changes and additions during the past month, and is still having many elements added. CEO Sterling Jackson has said, of the Quirp Story team, "We're thrilled to see the progress we've made in 2003, and are looking forward to building on everything created, through 2004."

At the time of the game's release, Phase 1 of Leagues will be introduced. Leagues are airships that travel around the overworld of Arkael, with a plethora of uses -- trading, exploration, transport, and war, among them. Leagues will range in size from relatively small, private Leagues with perhaps only a crew of ten, to massive ships with crews of hundreds, run by the League Federation and the opposing Lucidus Federation. Each phase will last one month, after which point League levels and equipment will be reset. The Leagues themselves, however, will continue to exist, along with their resources. At the beginning of Phase 1, a series of drawings will be held, and Leagues given to the winners of these drawings. This is an excellent opportunity for those who would like to command one of these magnificent vessels; drawings will happen only in the very early phases.

Among the additions still to come is a player-versus-player arena. The arena will offer a place for Quirps to engage in direct combat with each other, something currently not available; Quirps, by nature, do not attack each other normally. With the addition of the arena, there will be plenty of room for personal competition, without issues such as characters being killed by other players, at inopportune times. Arena scores and rankings will be cleared monthly, to allow for exciting competition. It will further the ability for players to choose their path in Quirp Story, and play the game as they wish.

Another upcoming addition -- already partially in place -- is the city of Kydar. Known as the Technocracy, for its use of powerful and amazing technology, Kydar is not easily found. Rumors about the ancient city abound, with mentions of strange experiments, and massive robots.

With the final release, Quirp Story will be going pay-to-play, as previously announced. However, signup remains free, as does the 14-day trial membership. As a special offer for the month of January, year-long memberships will be available for $30 US-- a $12 savings from the usual price of $42 per year. The monthly rate will remain at $5. Payments can be made via PayPal, BidPay, money orders, and personal checks. Also, two Karma points can be redeemed for a month of membership. Karma can be earned by inviting other players who purchase a membership, and sometimes from the submission of suggestions and bug reports. Karma also has other uses, for those who would rather pay outright.
