Specializing in Earth: 2025

Specializing
This is by far the MOST IMPORTANT principle in Earth: 2025. Specializing is a must in order to achieve success in the game. This write-up will show you the importance of specializing.

How to Specialize?
There are 4 main commodities in Earth, namely military, technology, food and cash. Specializing means to concentrate your country to produce only one type of commodity. This is done by having only one or two types of buildings and technology. More details will be provided when you learn about strategies.

Why Specialize?
The one and only reason for specializing is that you’ll make more by specializing than by mixing your country. I could show you the math but that will take too long. Just view the status of the countries out there and you’ll see the proof.

Common Misassumption
Most newcomers fall into this trap. They assume that all aspects of the game are important and they worry when their countries do not produce a certain commodity. Thus they start having all types of buildings to maintain growth in all fields.

Rest assured that it is okay and normal to have a negative income and/or food production. You can gain the cash and food through other means like selling military. This will become clearer when you try out the strategies.

Land
The next most important principle in the game is to have a lot of land. Since everyone specializes, this is what separates an average player and a good player.
How do you get lots of land?
Read the Landgrabbing Guide in the Strategy Board

Why is land important?
Firstly, land contributes directly to your networth.
Secondly, buildings contribute to networth and the amount of land you have determines how many buildings you can have.

Thirdly and most importantly, the more buildings you have, the more you can produce.

Common Misassumption
While it is important to have a lot of land, do not go rushing out there, grabbing everyone like a mad man just to be the fattest one around. Land is only good if you can keep it. That’s why land gaining is a fine art.

You need to have a right combination of military that allows you to hit others for good returns as well as defending yourself against possible grabs and retaliations. This combination depends on the type of strategy you’re playing and also your preferred style of landgrabbing.

Turns
The third and final principle to get across. There is only a certain number of turns for a reset. It is possible to gain less than this number but never more. Assuming you specialize, the way in which you use your turns will determine your networth and finishing rank.

There are two main areas where players might waste turns, landgaining and construction speed.

Landgaining with respect to Turns
As you know, the amount of acres you gain from exploring decreases as the size of your country increases. Therefore, it is wiser to attack for land rather than to explore. At this moment, the reset is 2-weeks-old. For a country at 3000 acres, the rate of exploring is 10 Acres per turn. The average return from attacks is 150 Acres which is equivalent to 75 Acres per turn. By attacking, you will have saved 13 turns that can be used for other purposes.

Similarly, it is important that you succeed in your attacks. A failed attack means losing turns as you gained nothing from it and you’ll have to spend some turns to regain readiness before you can attack again.

Construction Speed with respect to Turns
Construction Speed refers to how many buildings you can build per turn (BPT). You increase your BPT by building Construction Sites (CS).

Newcomers make the mistake of having a low BPT. They feel that it is a waste of turns building so many CS when the increase in BPT is so meager. Let me illustrate.

If you have a BPT of 50 you’ll take 4 turns to build 200 buildings. While a BPT of 20 will take you 10 turns to build the same 200 buildings. You’ll gain around 800 acres each day. A saving of 6 turns each day will give you around 400 turns by the end of the reset. Okay, you’ll need 120 turns to go from 20 BPT to 50 BPT so that’s 280 turns saved.

But that doesn’t mean building tones of CS will help you finish well. There are stages where you’ll build intensively, and others where you stop building. This all depends on the strategy you choose and the way you landgrab.

Specializing is esential for massive growth, for when you get in a higher ranks,it will slow your growth and you won’t be able to compete with the others, farming and cashing are great stradigys, indy is average and tech depends on the prices. Oilers may be useful in the council server but takes longer to start with a low success rate.
