Irth Online Shows Potential
When diving head first into Irth Online, you become overwhelmed with the fantasy rich atmosphere. One of the amazing things for me about Irth Online was keeping in mind that its developer, Magic Hat Software, isn't some big budget company but was able to create an unbelievable looking world. Although, when playing such an ambitious game that offers so much for the player to do, you get the sense that the game was launched incomplete.
Inside Irth Online, you're introduced to a world that you could spend hours in just exploring this vast environment. Though the scenery is great, the level of customization really draws you in. From the start when creating a character, you have many in depth options to choose from. Choosing between four different civilizations, multiple races, and customizing your character down to the eye color, the start of your free-willed playing begins with this in depth character creation. Not to mention you'll have control over the game camera in the creation process, something that's become a regular in a few big budget titles.
Skills are a major influence to the game. You won't find the classic leveling-up or experience grinds like most RPGs, instead, it's all about the your skills. You'll choose from over 30 skills like alchemy, basket weaving, and tailoring to name a few. Increasing your overall development within these skills will be a focal point. This was in a way something that felt unique in the presentation, so it was nice to see some originality within a new RPG for once.
Battling within Irth Online can occur between other players, or the classic random monsters. If player verses player (PvP) isn't your "cup of tea" you'll have a choose to join their non-PvP civilization, Avaria. The monsters within the game look amazing. I'm still astonished with how much detail some of the monsters have. The battle system is easy to pick up, but doesn't offer anything new, though that shouldn't take away anything from the game in itself.
The crafting ability within the game is really enjoyable. We've heard from the developers and players in interviews about this, but once you're actually messing around with, you understand why it's such a rave around it. There is so much that you can craft that it almost seems endless. Definitely one of the key features you'll find within Irth Online, and helps the game stand out compared to others. If anything, one of the major reasons to give the game a try down the road.
Freedom to basically do whatever you please inside the world of Irth Online is a breath of fresh air. I'm always looking for the chance to do what I want as if I'm living within the game, and that's what Irth Online seems to be all about. Basically, whatever you feel like doing, you can do it. Plus the game employs various features to cater your free roaming needs.
Now, aside from the multiple features offered within, and the visuals, Irth Online does have their flaws. You should expect some lag within the game, along with the occasional hiccups, and the on going findings of "bugs" by the community. You'll feel you're playing a game still within alpha or beta. Since the game still experiences problems after the "gold" launch, you'll become frustrated at times and wonder if they launched too soon.
Potentially, Irth Online has the makings of a great game if the developers can iron out some of the problems with it. Overall, they have some great features, and visuals. Just keep in mind that you're playing a game that basically begun in a basement. It's just a matter of opinion if you want to spend the money and ride out the storm of continuous updating and tinkering with the game until they finally have all the wrinkles ironed out. Though, with that said, I still feel this is something that's worth your time to experience, just depends on if that time is now, or sometime down the road.***Click here to found out about your OMGN exclusive discount to Irth Online***
